A few words from the National President, Kathy Cayton
Welcome to the Navy Wives Clubs of America, Inc. website. We hope you take a moment to review the information about us and get a better understanding of our organization.
The purpose of NWCA is to unite all sea service enlisted spouses into bonds of mutual friendship, assistance and welfare for their families, bases and communities in which we live. If you are the spouse of an active duty, retired, or deceased United States Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard personnel, we are here for you.
Our organization was incorporated on June 3, 1936 in Long Beach, CA by a group of military spouses who shared a common bond and a common need. We continue to share that bond and need for support and friendship and enjoy helping military spouses adjust to the military way of life. NWCA received a Federal Charter from the United States Congress in October of 1984 and in this time of war and uncertainty, it is important for you to know that you are not alone. There are currently thirty-four clubs through out the United States and we are here to help you get through the separations, establish friendships at your new duty stations, assist you in finding resources that are available and help you when needed.
NWCA’s Regular membership is open to enlisted spouses of the Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard, active duty, retired, widowed or reserve. We also extend membership to Members At Large (MALs) that do not reside near a base but wish to belong as well as an Associate membership to spouses not eligible for regular membership, but who are interested in the objectives and aims of the organization, which is educational and charitable.
If you’re looking for things to do in your spare time, the local clubs always have projects going on in both their military and civilian communities. Some clubs have Thrift Shops they run; others have Food Lockers that help the military families in their area make it through the tough times. School projects with the children, visits to the local Veteran’s Homes and Military Hospitals, participating in community outreach projects, just name it and we’re involved.
For those of you who have children preparing to attend college, or if you are interested in furthering your education, I invite you to look at our Scholarship Section listed on this site. We have dozens of scholarships available for children, spouses and members.
Our NWCA Pledge is our commitment to being “kind and charitable to our sister members” and ends with another commitment “to be ever mindful of the dignity of the position which we hold, as a partner of a man serving the Flag of our Country". Our Motto is “They Also Serve, Who Stay and Wait”…we hope you will choose to join us while helping to serve the communities in which we live. One of the best things about NWCA is the friends we make and the fun we have along the way!
